Managing Your Profile

Your SpainTrades profile is your shopfront. This guide walks through every section you can edit, what each field does, and tips for making your profile as compelling as possible to expat customers in the Málaga region.

Your Public Profile vs. Private Details

Your dashboard holds both public and private information. Your public profile — everything visible on your profile page and in search results — includes your business name, description, logo, portfolio, trade categories, areas served, and contact options. Your private details (personal email address, billing information) are never shown publicly.

To edit your public profile, go to Dashboard → Profile.

Business Name, Description and Services

Your business name is what customers see in search results. Use the name you trade under, not your personal name.

Your business description (up to 500 characters) appears on your profile page and feeds into search indexing. Write in plain, clear English — explain what you do, how long you've been doing it, and what makes you the right choice for an expat customer. Avoid jargon. Your description is automatically translated into Spanish for Spanish-speaking customers.

The Services field gives you space to list specific services in more detail — useful if your trade covers multiple specialisms, such as a plumber who also handles gas installations or solar water heating.

Areas Served and Coverage Radius

Your coverage radius (set in kilometres) determines which customer searches you appear in. A radius of 25 km from Málaga covers most of the Costa del Sol. You can update this at any time if you expand or reduce the area you're willing to travel.

Logo and Banner Image

Upload a square logo (minimum 200 × 200 px, ideally 400 × 400 px). A professional logo significantly affects how customers perceive your business. If you don't yet have a logo, a clean photo of your work vehicle or a completed job works as a temporary alternative — but investing in a simple logo design is worthwhile.

Your logo appears in search results, on your profile page, and in any quote request correspondence.

Portfolio Photos

Portfolio photos are the most persuasive element of your profile — customers want to see evidence of your work before making contact. Your photo allowance depends on your plan:

  • Basic: up to 10 photos
  • Professional: up to 20 photos
  • Premium: up to 50 photos

Choose photos that show the quality and variety of your work. Before-and-after pairs are particularly effective. Use your own photos only — stock images are not permitted and damage customer trust.

Trade Categories

Select all the trade categories that accurately describe the work you do. Your profile will appear in search results for each category you select. Do not add categories you don't actively work in — mismatched enquiries waste your time and reduce your response rate, which affects your search ranking.

Contact Details

You can add a business phone number, WhatsApp number, and business email address. These appear on your public profile and allow customers to contact you directly. Your personal login email is never shown publicly.

WhatsApp contact opens a pre-filled text message conversation — it is not a call button. If you add a WhatsApp number, ensure it's a number you monitor actively.

Social Media Links (Professional and Premium)

On Professional and Premium plans, you can add links to your Facebook, Instagram, and website. These appear on your public profile and give customers a broader picture of your business. A social presence showing real completed work is a strong additional trust signal.

Payment Methods

List the payment methods you accept — bank transfer, card, cash, and so on. This sets expectations before a customer makes contact and reduces back-and-forth about payment logistics.

Qualifications and Certifications

List any formal qualifications, trade body memberships, or certifications relevant to your work — for example gas installer certificates, CCTV qualifications, electrical registration, or specialist licences. These appear as text on your profile and are separate from the documents you upload for official verification.

Custom Profile URL (Premium)

On the Premium plan, you can set a custom slug for your profile — for example, spaintrades.es/pro/your-business-name. This is easier to share in emails, on business cards, or on social media than the default URL. Set it once in your profile settings; choose carefully as frequent changes are not supported.
